Low or Empty Toner Warning

Epson Aculaser M2400 Printer

The Epson Aculaser M2400 series printers are popular as a cheap and reliable printer and fortunately, not many problems have been reported by users.

The status lights on this printer indicate faults or warnings for the printer hardware, the toner and paper feed. The toner light is the middle of the bottom three. If it flashes slowly it indicates that the cartridge is not a genuine toner. Compatible cartridges should not trigger this condition as the chip on the cartridge should be recognised. If the light lashes faster at a rate of 0.3 seconds, it means the toner is getting low and a replacement will be needed soon. If continuously lit then the toner is completely empty and the printer will not work.

Occasionally the low toner light or toner empty light may indicate that a new cartridge that has just been replaced is low. This mostly occures because the blue leaver that secures the cartridge in place is not fully pushed home. If after pushing the leaver fully the low toner light is still lit, try removing and reinserting the toner cartridge in the printer once again and pushing the blue lever fully home.

For a full list of the status light functions please see your manual. Here is a link to the Epson M2400 manual. Naviagate to 'troubleshooting' and then 'status and error lights'.
